
Job posting!!A collaboration between Stichting AAP, University of Rennes and Liverpool John Moores University is seeking a paid research coordinator of post release monitoring of reintroduced Barbary macaque in Tazekka National Park, Morocco.
The project is anticipated to commence in September 2025, and we seek a research coordinator for the first 12 months following the release. The role includes:
- Behaviour data collection of macaques
- GPS collar tracking, movement data collection- Student or research assistant team coordination
- Coordination with an multi partenarial team
The salary is approximately EUR 20k per annum.
DUTIES:
Research
• Undertake the collection of research data as outlined in the job summary.
• Ensure that full and accurate documentation is kept for all work and ensure that all policies and processes, including quality assurance, are maintained and adhered to.
• Carry out administrative tasks related to the delivery of the research, planning work to agreed specifications, time and quality standards.
• Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
• Maintain high standards of academic and commercial confidentiality. Comply with relevant protocols regarding data confidentiality and security.
• Develop skills in relevant research methodologies.
• Attend and contribute to research/subject group meetings.
• Engage with and participate in the University's appraisal process as reviewer and/or reviewee, as appropriate.
Citizenship
• Contribute to a supportive working environment and develop productive working relationships with other team members.
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
• Act as an ambassador for the multi partenarial team in all interactions with current and prospective staff and students, visitors, external partners, media and general public.
• Promote the multi partenarial team's values of an inclusive and diverse community.
Post Specific Duties:
• Conduct field work in Tazekka National Park, Morocco with wild Barbary macaques.
• Collect behavioural data on the released macaques (focus, scan sampling, diet).
• Collect GPS data on wild macaque movement (direct observation and GPS collar), detection of release group with telemetry
• Managing the database of all the collected data.
• Any other duties commensurate with the grade as deemed necessary by the supervisory team (Dr Patrick Tkaczynski, Dr Pascaline Le Gouar, and Eva Shippers).
